Glitch Combat Quick QAs

Do I glitch immediately in combat? NO, never! Combat continues. Your body is at the will of the players that are still alive. Glitch-time stops will most likely occur the instant that initiative is over and combat has stopped.

Where's my consciousness and soul-stuff between glitches? The Fugue Plane (cannon)

Do I retain memories when I glitch? Depends on which character you are playing as well as your current (new) Intelligence score. This can be overwritten or skipped/nulled by DM for narrative purposes.
Farryn: Can choose. Gauthak: Null.
Grisland: Can use will rather than int when rolling.
Kayne and Zigga: have not glitched often and are more prone to memory loss, will roll per DM.
INT saving throw, if succeeds: there is no memory loss; if fails: will roll for severity (determines number of hours/days lost).

General Rules When Glitches Occur:

Initiated by the DM. Glitch Playlist

    • You must alter 1 or 2 major features about your characters within their own PC boundaries (provided below)

    • Your ideals and narrative roles within the party should remain the same or similar (but don't have to)

    • If your class requires you to change your skill/prof choices you may do so,

If you're not changing your class or level then nothing about your skills or proficiencies can be modified during a glitch.

    • If your roleplay choice would benefit by changing your scores, then assume you may swap any 2 of your rolled numbers when making glitched changes in class or race to better suit your new build.

Roleplay Guidelines

    • When glitches are occurring players should pause roleplay for PCs - as if time is stopped - to resolve their glitch choices to manifest (3-8 minutes)

    • Players should not ask other players for guidance or to make choices during glitches and therefore should sit removed from others, the DM is available to assist as needed

    • Discussion about glitches is welcomed between sessions and during roleplay at the table as your PC,

but NOT during Glitches themselves

    • Players will be independently responsible for accurate role play, the DM will always assist the Glitch in occurring smoothly - stay in your character - let me handle the setting response and awkward reality of the rules breaking.

Character Glitching Guidelines:

Farryn: Race must remain Eladrin but may be any subclass or alignment (may multiclass)

Gauthak: May choose a 'large' race (goliath, minotaur, large human ect), must choose a warrior or barbarian subclass (cannot cast spells) <-- he can break these rules.
Alignment locked to Chaotic (cannot choose Lawful). <-- this rule cannot be broken.

Grisland: Must choose a different sub-classes of monk, may choose any race or alignment

Kayne: Must change to a new multiclass build, must be Humanoid but may change gender or general appearance, may be any alignment. (Cannot be lizardfolk, minotaur, tabaxi, etc.) Notes: At least one sublcass should be altered to count during the glitch, changing the levels of an existing subclass choice does not count alone. You may choose the leveling that best suits your new sublcass/s.

Zigga: Must choose a different race, may be any class (recommended: rogue or ranger or wizard),
Alignment locked to Neutral Evil unless/until roleplay dictates a strong change previous to a glitch.

Managing Sheets

SUGGESTIONS FOR REMAKING SHEET:

  1. Go to dndbeyond and open all your characters page you’ve created (not the campaign). From there, make a copy of your existing/recent character. <--- This keeps notes and inventory!
  2. Now, go to the campaign page and copy the link to join the campaign with your new copy of the character.
  3. Next, remove your current build from being active (but don’t completely remove it) to avoid confusion later.
  4. Now edit and update the copy and note the "glitch number" in your notes or rename. All your inventory and notes should remain on your sheet this way saving on time and confusion later.
  5. Get DM approval when your new character sheet is updated and active in the campaign so that we can continue playing.

YOU MAY: Quietly tell the DM what your glitch does for your character and request that they make the update with you. If Bowden is not experiencing a glitch himself (and DM is busy), he is also allowed as rule-lawyer to help modify or update character sheets in dndbeyond but not to help make decisions for your PC.

Use "unassigned"/assign to swap characters easily between players or glitches.
Use "deactivate" when it's not likely you'll 'go back to the glitch' or to retain 'original' character designs. (This does not delete them or make them available to anyone else.)
