Planar Book of Wanderings & Wonderings

The Planar Book of Wanderings & Wonderings is far more than a mere collection of ink and vellum; it is a manual of narrative consequence and a vital tool for those traversing the Great Wheel. Unlike standard mimirs that merely store and disgorge factual knowledge, this tome whispers "quiet truths" to its owner, acting as a stabilizing anchor for a soul that might otherwise be lost to the margins of reality or the deterministic logic of the Great Wheel.

The Author: Annastrianna Moonbrook

The book was penned by Annastrianna Moonbrook, a name tied to the legacy of The Iron Fang and the Emerald Enclave with a higher-tier understanding of the planes. She is identified as an Eladrin who once studied as a magic scholar. Through this book, Annastrianna sought to record the "lived impressions" of the multiverse, ensuring that stories without authors are not simply filled in by the predatory revisions of the Unwritten Archive. Rather, a copy of this book resides in the Written Archives of Manam.

Portal Resonance

A critical function of the tome is its enhanced ability to sense portals

While planar natives possess an innate knack for spotting gateways, the Planar Book of Wanderings & Wonderings acts as a metaphysical tuning fork. It allows the user to perceive the harmonic signature of nearby portals, sensing their existence and identifying their deviation gradients even when they are inactive. The book often chimes or its eyes pulse with specific lights—such as a swirling blue-green near Glorium or rainbow hues near Sylvania—to signal that a portal's resonance is peaking.

The Verdant Meridian

The book’s deeper purpose is to serve as the external record for the Verdant Meridian, a "failsafe architecture" and lineage embedded within certain souls. The Verdant Meridian is a planar-resonant bloodline of harmonic souls designed to act as Balance Ripplers.

Who they are is defined by three core principles:

  • Decentralized Divinity: Unlike traditional avatars that seek to centralize power, the Verdant Meridian distributes authorship across reality. This prevents the Great Wheel from collapsing into singular tyranny and makes them invisible to "god-eaters" like the Pale Devourer.
  • Harmonic Correction: They are harmonic souls who shift not just with emotion, but with planar equilibrium. When the balance of a plane is destabilized, a member of the Meridian emits a subtle correction—such as dampening extraplanar hostility or sealing planar bleeds—often without realizing they are doing so.
  • Living Margin Notes: Members are often "released" agents of balance who suffer from memory loss, which is actually a "voluntary relinquishment". This allows them to function as "living margin notes," creating new, unwritten endings that the standard multiversal bookkeeping cannot catalog or control.
