When She Decided To Trust
It had taken a few years but I think Zaga and Zigga had begun to "allow".
- - -
For months Zigga was invited to Rites which always included feasts and celebrates afterwards.
Nine months ago, Zigga was shown a tome called By All Means. "This needs to remain chained and untouched, it is the evil contained... for now." She looks up to Zigga with a serious look rarely seen, "It will need to be destroyed."
A few days later she was asked to meet Zaga in the Platinum Rooms of the casino, Fortune's Wheel.
When they both arrived, Zaga instructed her that there are personal reasons why she has not yet allowed her to enter a particular room and Zigga was about to learn why. As she kissed the cheek of her shadowy friend at the door to the War-Rooms, Zaga stole Zigga a look that said "brace yourself and hold your tongue".
Zigga was used to carnage, but of a different sort. The kind that was willed, enjoyed even and put on stage.
Arena of the Shattered
This theater room was different, Zigga observed massive machine-men across a shifting battlefield.
Feats of absolute carnage. The fought with all kinds of monsters. The shadowy man, Kerberos was all too willing to sit at the long tables and begin conversation.
The longer Zigga was there, the more she realized the tyranny of it. The men inside that battle were caged; they couldn't die everything was in a reality-loop. Scanning the field she recognized some of those trapped within the battlefield of the Shattered Compact.
Later that day Zaga explained her plan briefly, they would return soon.
Power of the Witnesses - Months Pass
Zigga's presence and their witness of the battlefield had caused a stir within some of those machine men she observed that day. Zaga explained that the tome had filled to its quota, and that the tables would now be forever altered... That certain divine interventions had been arranged to forever change their fate.
The stirs of power within the men had shifted in recent years. They began to ally with each other, forming war bands within the battlefield. VV and G7, together, they could not be overcome by any number of other relics. The war plans had shifted dramatically from within the SC.
Liberation Plans
Standing in a field in the morning, Zigga doesn't know where to ( they had planeshifted there).
Zaga instills more than confidence in her sister,
"It's all timing at this point.
Thank you for being here as a witness to this event later today; it'll matter more to you in about six months when I ask you to stand in for me at the casino. (pause)
That broker of the Wheel, Shemeshka? She is going to attempt to distract me, and I'm afraid I'll have to pull away and go along with that request. You'll likely be there, though. And I need you to make sure the assets don't go to her or her alliances, who ever they may seem to be at the time.
Let us begin, stand there please... Now listen..."
The 13 Shamans of Odin begin the Rite of the Call:
Inside the Arena The Day the Divine Windows Opened
Later that same day, Zaga and Zigga watched from within the War-Rooms just before the Month of Death would begin. The battlefield is largely the same as it was. Zigga notices that more of the relics are fighting together but they had started doing that a lot recently.
Zaga grins with her eyes closed, clawed hand on her chest. Suddenly Zigga stares into the arena and everything inside the battlefield beings to shift in different directions. Its hard to see, sudden shifts are happening. Flashes of light and beings begin to enter from the sky and through portals all over the surface of the cube. Everyone watching in the war rooms begin standing and pointing, those around her begin to murmur and stir. From a front far right table Kerberos shouts, "What's the fuck is even happening?!"
The Wheel Opens
Vezrant Vale shouts infernal commands to all relics running as fuel for the engine of the war. The men engage fiercely with dwarven warriors and Valkyries come flying down from all sides.
Then in a single moment, multiple divine windows and portals burst open and the dwarves, followed by relics are steered towards their reckoning. In a matter of a half an hour, the battlefield had completely drained of the relics...
Zaga turns to Zigga from within the War-Room, "Third times the charm."
VV continues until the majority of the relics have stolen away into portals. Zaga whispers to Zigga, "This is the part I hate to love." Zaga disappears from Zigga's side (planeshifted).
The battlefield is nearly barren, as armored Acheron soliders begin to teleport in to investigate the battlefield. The occultist with a hood up, obscuring her identity, goes to the center of the battlefield. In a massive swirl of rites, she instigates a hoard of skeletons for the remaining demons to fight with. Demons that had already been released upon the field to fight in a previous attempt to free them. The Acheron soldiers are soon swallowed up by them, the demons or the hoards of undead.
"Let a new form of entertainment begin," Old Grin says over the battlefield as they hide easily within the mass of demons. After a while of observation, she then vanishes from the battle as her demon self, after watching Vezrant Vale finally it stepping into a portal to Sigil.
The Month of Death in Sigil
A spill of machine men and dwarven warriors and monks spilled over into the Lower Ward. This even is best envisioned in a high fantasy setting of chaos that didn't fully settle for about one month, and therefore locals call this recent occurrence the "Month of Death".
It got this name because so many beings that faught in this event, particularly those who entered Sigil would fall only temporarily before rising again. Although every time this happened they came back weaer and more humanoid, less machine.
Who was on the streets: Kayne, Zigga, factions such as the Bleak Cabal and the Doom Guard (joining the chaos) as well as the Hands of Havoc (also increasing the chaos)
Investigations
Kayne is assigned the Case 7741 that audits the use of illegal portal entrance into Sigil.
This event was about six months ago.
Screaming Escape
Since this event many have been captured, several have left Sigil, and others are likely to already be imprisoned. Gauthak and Grisland are one of the most successful examples of a rehabilitated asset as a person. They will however need to prove it eventually.
