Yur, A Walking Castle & Another Yapping Skull

NPC: Zaythir "Yur" (The Uniter of Xaos)

Zaythir, often addressed as "Yur" by those within her inner circle, is a high-ranking Githzerai sage belonging to the Fracture Archives. She presents as a dry, precise, and intensely curious scholar who is "allergic to melodrama" and prefers Measurable structural data over mystical speculation. As a "Uniter from Xaos," she is closely associated with the Sha’sal Khou—a radical group of githyanki and githzerai who believe in the reunification of their fractured people and maintain a fortified enclave within the gate-town of Xaos.

Yur’s primary focus is the study of non-tyrannical unifying structures. She views her role as a caretaker and witness rather than an owner, currently occupying the walking castle Iedcaru to map its movement and determine how such a complex system can self-correct and navigate without a central dictator. She is an expert in Mnemonic Cartography, utilizing planar memory anchors to stabilize those suffering from "planar interference" or memory drift.

Stompy: The Walking Castle Iedcaru

In general canon, Iedcaru is an ancient Githzerai hermitage and repository of learning. It was constructed by ascetics to serve as a mobile platform for meditating on the multiversal truths of the Outer Planes. The castle is commanded by a magical, stone-hewn entity known as the Castellan, which communicates through gestures and projects illusory maps of the Outlands.

In this campaign, the castle (nicknamed "Stompy") serves as a mobile stabilizer responding to a massive Modron March cycle interruption. It is no longer just a place of meditation but a vehicle to locate the missing modron units from the premature Early Modron March triggered by Tenebrous.

Yur has been studying it. Most ascetics have forgotten the original purposes of each castle.

The castle's stone legs activate and move not through traditional steering, but through a resonance alignment of will and mission; it literally "walks" toward sites of systemic imbalances.

Embedded in its core is Laxuelu, a sealed sarcophagus that acts as a containment axis for patterns that once threatened planar equilibrium, recognizing current party members as "required variables" in a cycle of Correction.

The Mimir: Planar Knowledge Engines

A Mimir is a magical, skull-shaped fact-collecting device designed to provide information about the planes to travelers. Crafted from materials like gold, silver, jade, or glass shards, each Mimir is a unique repository of Esoteric and Planar Knowledge.

Mimirs function as "Guides to the Planes," though their information is often filtered through the personal—and occasionally inaccurate—opinions of those who recorded data into them. In times of multiversal instability, a Mimir can act as a Metaphysical Tuning Fork, recording "Accurate Data" from Gate-town portals to replace "poisoned" or corrupted records within the Great Wheel's substrate. A Mimir typically introduces itself with a standard warning about bounty hunters if it has been stolen.

The Well of Mimir (The Well of Urd)

The Well of Mimir, known in many planar circles as the Well of Urd, is a legendary site associated with the Norns (the Norse Fates) who lair in the Outlands. These fantastically old witches use the well to weave the grand tapestry of fate, glimpsing where the threads of destiny begin and end.

In Sigil lore, the Singing Fountain in the Lady's Ward is rumored to be linked to the Well of Urd via a hidden portal. Cautionary tales warn that the knowledge found within the well is often heavy; those who drink from its waters or peer into its depths are said to "come to regret doing so," as the clarity of one's future or true purpose is a weight that few mortal minds can bear.
