Session 1: Waking Up Dead
The Prologue: Singularities of Existential Uncertainty
Before our story even began, our five protagonists were already "Violation Flags" in the cosmic ledger. Victims of a multiversal glitch, they each led remarkable lives and died under suspicious circumstances, only to be reborn untethered from their true pasts.
Here is what we knew of the "Sovereign Soul-Units" before they woke:
• Kayne Mountainstar: A human Cager-Gone-Clueless, a Civic Planar Irregularities Auditor for Mechanus. He was originally assigned Case REC-Δ-7741 to investigate Gauthak and Grisland's arrival in Sigil. This flirtatious not-a-wizard (nor is this Kansas anymore Dorthy) faces challenges between family responsibilities and the value of one's own desires being realized.
• Gauthak Gathakanathai: A Goliath war-relic from Ysgard, stolen centuries ago and manufactured into a "Line Anchor" (K-7//GATH-RUK) for the Shattered Compact war in Acheron. He carries a corrupted Mechanical Core in his chest. This fun, caring and milk-loving fool is hard not to adore as he finds his way through Sigil with Grisland.
• Grisland Goldfeast: A celestial-soul monk of the Way of the Last Tankard. Sent from Ysgard to witness those denied an honorable death, he seized a moment of divine intervention to help Gauthak escape the iron cubes of Acheron some months ago.
• Zigga: An Arane Rogue who operates outside of all moral and bureaucratic registries. She possesses the "Uncounted Step," a feat that allows her to bypass multiversal failsafes. A misplaced kid from Ravnica, the city of noise and blood, who had recently tried a new scene here in Sigil, with her 'associate' Maryn’bl Zagnibs, and other sensates and muses.
• Farryn Yinhorn: An Eladrin Wanderer who was once a high-level magic Planeswalker.

Session 1: The Grave Escape
The campaign erupted into life in the sterile, formaldehyde-scented basement of the Mortuary in Sigil.
The Cold Awakening
Kayne, Grisland, Farryn, and Zigga awoke on cold metal examination tables. They were greeted by Morte, a sardonic floating skull who addressed them as "Chief" and informed them they needed to go wake up their friend, Gauthak, who was startled awake in a separate room.
Retrieving the Remains
After uniting, the party scavenged their belongings from storage barrels. During the search, Farryn discovered a jar marked with a strange symbol and the name "Dara"; briefly opening it released the wail of an elven banshee before the lid was secured. Gauthak recovered a key and began hacking at the flesh golem near his awakening site.
The Last FeastThe escape nearly ended early in the incineration hall managed by a zombie named Maurice. Grisland was incinerated, but then healed by Farryn.
The party was then lured toward their "Last Feast"—a lavish table set with their favorite dishes. Grisle and Gauthak partook in the meal, which turned out to be laced with poison, though they fortunately only suffered minor damage.
Shadows of the Past
While navigating the gloom, Zigga spoke with a ghostly butler. Between his hollow words and Morte’s sarcasm, the party realized a chilling truth: they had been in the Mortuary before. The inhabitants of the Dead District encouraged them to "accept death and stay dead," but provided no answers regarding their selective amnesia.

Into the Hive
The party eventually followed an entity out of the Mortuary’s depths and into the smog-choked streets of the Hive Ward. Seeking refuge, they entered a halfling tavern where they met a human tout named Saren. Saren was visibly shaken by their appearance; she confessed that she had escorted this exact group from the Mortuary before and suggested they had died multiple times.
Doubting her own sanity, Saren insisted on visiting the Bleak Cabal at the Gatehouse for mental triage. As the party followed her, Kayne felt a strange, resonant connection to the Gatehouse—a feeling that the very air was anchored to the plane of Pandemonium.
Session 1 concluded as the party reached the threshold of the Gatehouse, ready to find out if they were broken, or simply "unfinished".
