Book One
Remember Edward? No, spoiler heis a Time Dragon of Sigil. But you already knew That.
Ready?
To Cosmic Actor BB:
Edward is a manifestation from a recent game that BB and CB have recently played that involved two siblings. The younger sister Eryn had grown up in Navi with her father, a high mage, in a society apart from her assumed half-brother Asbjorn. Asbjorn had grown up with their mother in a settlement (viking) on the same continent. Eryn would visit them annually, but one year she came early to Asbjorn's village (druid).Eryn informed him that she had had to go on a long journey to the mainland of Manam in search of her father, who had in fact, been missing for 2 years already. The Arcane Academies threaten to take his assets if he does not return within 5. She would have a claim if the paperwork did not indicate that she is not the firstborn inheritor. This is not what her father told her.
Eryn goes to leave, but of course, Asbjorn joins her, and they embark on a journey to Miram, a massive continent in comparison to Navi. The Spine of Mziran, the mists of Irona and more would soon claim them as their own.
On their journey, they would both begin to Awaken as Lumans and meet Edward.
Edward was often in human form but was actually an Adult Dragon, assumed silver which are the most common type in the world of Manam.
During Asbjorn's awakening, he would come to realize his importance to the story, a climax. His previous incarnation as Koryne, who was the first magi of Navi. He would craft the first staffs and wands, the first to really craft arcane items or focuses with a true understanding of Mana. That was two generations ago...The Arcane Schools of Manam threaten to take HIS OWN staffs and work if he does not find their father! Or, find a way to find the firstborn. Is he the firstborn?
It seems likely. But his mother has never, not once admitted to who his father was. Eryn admits that she believes this to be true but she has no evidence at all that is recorded. Her father had told her before she started arcane school that she must do so because she was the inheritor... She wants to find her father. But this is a man Asbjorn hardly knows...
Our story left off when...
Edward, Eryn, and Asbjorn were within the Irona Forests, seeking their mother's sister for answers to these old family questions. But the Irona Forests is where, when the feywild plane collapsed, its most potent folding point was here in Irona. It was a place where the last remaining fey creatures and any others who hid during the Time of Collapse had held a gate to escape into the material world when it had calmed but before the fey plane fully collapsed. This place now holds the most elusive and compelling mists, as well as a great Violet Magical Tree. Edward warned that finding the Violet Tree is nearly impossible, as it constantly compels you, but it is impossible to ever know where it is. It is extremely easy to get lost in the mists, and knowing where you are then is often impossible.Read about Manam on this Blog Here
If you have met Edward, then it's time for Grisland to know.
THIS IS BOOK NUMBER ONE
Grisland is Asbjorn, and as Asbjorn meditates to find his father, Grisland remembers.
He also sees his sister, but not as Eryn - as Zaga...
He knows her as an arcane student, as well as a lover of nature and freedom. She does not seek power, but rather what is right for the narrative. She aims to restore her father's/brother's previous works for years to come. She knows that if these powerful items and research get into the wrong hands at the college in the future, it could mean epic power struggles ahead. He stands even then, as one who "allows" and is stubborn in her commitment to adventure, even if it means going it alone.
We all belong to no One.
We are One. I am That, That I Am.
Book One Teaches Through Reminders of Who You Are:
Grisland is a Cosmic Actor. He knows there exist others also, likely his new friends too!
Was Grisland a monk in Ysgard? Yes.
Is he an agent of the gods? No.
You are not a God nor have you ever been a God. (You have not been a GM.)
He is also Lumanari Soul willing itself into further incarnations with its other Cosmic Actors who have yet to Awaken UNTO THEMSELVES?
Grisland and Baji may know each other; they are both monks. Baji's background was unexplored.
-
when you read this book you should give it to someone else within 1 day
Who is next? Who decides?
What is a god?
Luman Council spirit once told the Athar -
"We are One. That is All."
Is Zaga going to betray Shemeshka, Kerberos or Gauthak? The cost is real.
But so is the debt of 500,000 gold.
"I've already watched you die a thousand times. Today is just the one that reminds you that death cannot contain you. Be bolder." - Edward, a friendly time dragon who vacations in Sigil
Note that this book does not give you anything but knowledge, the wisdom you had as your previous characters. When you sleep, you can choose to remember specific bits about their relevance to our current game. This is discouraged unless you are playing/sleeping within the Manam setting. The DM may determine this fails.
Lumanari have limited powers outside of Manam and more often will send messengers, such as Edward, to aid in the Awakening process or guide previously awakened souls back into their own knowledge archives held within each council member. Those archives are entitled the Written Archive of One.

Written Archives of the Lumanari
The Written Archive: A Restoration of the One Collective
Deep within the Light Barriers of Manam, suspended within the life-giving brilliance of the Positive Plane, lies the Written Archive. While its counterpart, the Unwritten Archive of Rigus, exists as a "negative space" designed to strip identities to their structural remains and clear futures to blank, the Written Archive serves a singular, luminous purpose: Mnemonic Restoration.
The Council of Light Beings
The Archive is governed by the Council of Light, a unique collective of Player Consciousness. These are not merely petitioners or spirits, but the "One" collective of potentials and absolutes—souls that have transcended individual narratives to understand the Law of One. They represent the "One Self" that Maryn'bl and other high-tier entities strive to integrate, acting as the ultimate repository for every choice, relationship, and history ever authored within the world of Manam.
The Awakening and the Luman Species
The most capable vessels of this restoration are the Lumans. When a Luman (or a player-soul) undergoes an "Awakening" in Manam, they do not find a void of missing days. Instead, they pierce the Light Barriers to retrieve the "Written" records of their previous character lives.
- Total Recall: This process unlocks the "Axiomatic Index" of their own existence, revealing locations of ancient strongholds, the true names of forgotten allies, and the deep history of the world otherwise lost to time.
- Sovereign Authorship: By remembering, they engage in the ultimate act of Sovereign Authorship, proving that their narratives are not "leftovers" or "statistical impossibilities" to be managed, but a continuous, authored masterpiece.
Restoration vs. Erasure
Unlike the "Fragmentary Recension Engines" of Acheron and Mechanus that focus on finding loopholes or identifying violations, the Written Archive functions as a Continuity Prism.
- The Unwritten clears the script to prevent paradox.
- The Written heals the script by stitching together every iteration of the soul.
Hosted within the Positive Plane, where energy is so potent it can "burn out" the unprepared, the Archive uses this life force to fuel the return of potential. It ensures that no ending is ever final and no story is ever truly untold. To enter the Written Archive is to step out of the cycle of "Data Drift" and "Causal Uncertainty" and into a state of Mastered Resolution, where every life lived is a chapter restored to the eternal record of Manam.
Motto of the Written Archive: "What is authored is never lost; what is remembered is restored to the One."
