House Ledger
The Fortune’s Wheel House Ledger is a specialized probability accounting tool used by the Merkants of Sigil to track interplanar debts, wagers, deferred deaths, and "expected outcomes". This ledger is fundamentally tied to the Wheel of Tyche, an ancient divine relic that governed the original, unaligned era of luck. When the goddess Tyche shattered into Tymora (Good Luck) and Beshaba (Bad Luck), the Wheel's nature shifted. In the current era, it has been rebranded as the Fortune’s Wheel, serving as a probability redistribution engine that Shemeshka the Marauder has weaponized for her own gain.
The connection between the Ledger and the Wheel is currently defined by a multiversal malfunction. Because the Wheel is "repeating itself incorrectly," the Ledger no longer closes its books; instead, it tracks "Debts With No Owner" and names that recur across different cycles, indicating that the Wheel is recycling souls rather than resolving their outcomes. Shemeshka profits from this daily through the casino's "open doors" using several predatory methods:
- Monetized Recurrence: Shemeshka does not just bet on who wins; she monetizes the glitch by betting on "non-outcomes" and "delayed resolutions". She treats the Wheel’s failure to finalize events as a repeatable, taxable event.
- Outcome Investment: Within the casino’s higher-dimensional spaces, such as the War-Room of Nonfinalities, Shemeshka purchases "non-finality futures," wagering that specific conflicts (like the Shattered Compact) will remain in a profitable stalemate rather than reaching a conclusion.
- Information Brokerage: She considers the true spoils of Fortune’s Wheel to be the secrets gathered by her web of spies. Every patron who walks through the doors—from low-stakes nobles in the Dragon Bar to interplanar "fat cats" in the Platinum Rooms—is audited for leverage and secrets.
- Data Laundering: Shemeshka has utilized Logos-Vector Modrons, specifically R04M (Delta-Nine), as a "Living Ledger Cache". She stores illegal accounting abstractions and debt correlations within these units to keep them unindexed and safe from formal Sigil or Mechanus audits.
- Escrowing Potential: On the night the "multiversal glitch" entangled the party, Shemeshka used Thothian potential cages to "escrow" their power, stripping them of their memories and levels to make them "unripe" and invisible to cosmic predators until she could properly invoice their potential.
Ultimately, Shemeshka profits because she has realized that a slightly cracked Wheel is more predictable to exploit than a perfectly functioning one. She treats the entire Great Wheel as a transactional chessboard where she owns the ledger, ensuring the house always collects on the "catastrophic loss of ledger continuity".
