The Ledger of Unwritten Ends: A Summary of Fortune’s Favored Fated Schemes (Sessions 1-4)

Welcome, cutters. You’ve escaped the formaldehyde of the Mortuary only to find yourselves caught in a bureaucratic nightmare spanning the Great Wheel. As you prepare for the surreal sprawl of the Outlands, it is time to review the "Accurate Data" you have gathered—and the questions that remain unanswered.

I. The Story So Far: Schemes and Shattered Records

You awoke as "Violation Flags" in the cosmic ledger—beings the multiverse can no longer identify. Your journey through Sigil revealed that you are not simply unknown; you are over-recorded. Your files in the Hall of Records loop back on themselves, citing deaths decades apart, yet you remain present and stubbornly "Current." Except for Zigga who has no record at all, remaining uncounted and unseen by constructs.

The Core Schemes Uncovered:

The Auditor’s Shadow: Kayne, you discovered that before your memory was "administratively severed," you were the lead auditor on Case REC-Δ-7741. This case investigated the illegal arrival of Gauthak and Grisland in Sigil—an event that bypassed every lawful transit path in the multiverse.

• The Shattered War: You have learned that Gauthak and Grisland are "Breaches in the War's Ending." Gauthak was once a Line Anchor (K-7//GATH-RUK), a manufactured war-machine fueled by Ysgardian souls, bound to the Shattered Compact in Acheron.

• The Fox’s Wager: Shemeshka the Marauder has offered you a fortune to retrieve R04M (Delta-Nine), a "broken" modron. You now know she lied: R04M is not an accountant, but a Logos-Vector hijacked to serve as her Living Ledger Cache for illegal war-contracts. Maryn'bl explains that Shemeshak opened a theater of the Shattered War in a War-Room in the Fortune's Wheel, where bets and wagers were made on the endless war machines.

• The Red Ledger: Maryn’bl (Zaga) has revealed she is more than a casino manager of the Fortune's Wheel. She carries the House Ledger, shared only with Shemeshka. Additionally, she possesses "Oh, By All Means" tome—an Acheronian instrument that weaponizes paperwork to reclassify "illegal" acts as "sanctioned." She claims to be able to help free the 10,000 souls of the Shattered Compact, starting with Gauthak, but can a former architect of wars truly be trusted?

II. Missions: The Outlands Circuit

The Outlands are not a tour; they are a series of "Pressure Points" where your causal ties are anchored.

1. The Hunt for R04M: Why did this modron flee to the Outlands, a zone where all authority and magic fail? As you visit the 7 Gate-towns, you must record "Accurate Data" into a device to replace Shemeshka’s "poisoned" records. (info from Session 5)

2. The Sovereignty of Gauthak: You carry the Udder Ring, a ritual object tied to the Hathorian Rite of Willing Milk. Can Gauthak transition from "Asset" to "Person" by choosing his own sustenance? And what happens to the Mechanical Core in his chest when his war-name finally dies?

3. The Final Filing of 7741: Kayne, you are once again the "Authorized Interpreter." Will you rule that Gauthak and Grisland are "New Beings" (erasing their past) or "Unresolved Processes" (preserving their responsibility)? Who opened the portal that caused the breach?

4. The Iron Pursuit: The Resolvers want you dead to "end the contradiction," while the Retrievers want you in chains. How will you face Adjudicator Ferrum-9 when the iron next strikes?

5. Reclaiming the Self: You have been killed dozens of times and dumped at the Mortuary. To get your true power and memories back, you must find where Shemeshka has caged your prior incarnations.

III. Foreshadowing: Court, Chaos, and Curses

• Arrival in Court: Your journey will lead back to a legal showdown where the Sigil Courts must decide who "owns" a soul that refuses to be counted. A date has not been set. (aka spiritual liberation in the present)

• Destabilizing the King's Cross Roads: By returning R04M with accurate data instead of poisoned data, you can force the Modron Ledger of Deviations to update to "VARIANCE ACCEPTED," potentially bankrupting Shemeshka’s wagers and finding the true ending for Endless War. (aka spiritual freedom in death)

• Breaking the Curses: Can Zigga, Kayne, and Maryn’bl help each other overcome generational servitude? If you find ways to stabilize the "madness" within your own chests and heads, will you finally be "mortals who refuse to be weighed"? (aka spiritual freedom in life)

IV. Important NPCs: Friends, Foes, or Variables?

Shemeshka the Marauder: She views you as "Useful Power", "High-Value", "Unexpendable Commodities", "Military Hardware." She wants you alive only as long as you are profitable.

• Question: If the "House always collects," what happens when you stop being an asset and start being a liability?

Maryn’bl (Zaga): She is a master of the "Grammar and Binding" currently performing "Corrective Pattern Behavior." She is the hidden thread connecting you all.

• Question: Is her atonement genuine, or is she merely rewriting the contracts to ensure she is the one holding the leash?

A’Kin the Friendly Fiend: He funds your "Cheevo List" because the "story value alone is worth it."

• Question: In a city of lies, is he the only one who seems to want you to succeed at being ridiculous?

The Twins (Masked Court): These mercury-faced echoes of a shattered era watch you from the Unwritten Archive. They fear Farryn’s "Awakening" and Gauthak’s unstable regressions.

• Question: Are they protecting the multiverse from paradox, or are they just censors trying to delete a story they didn't write?

Session 5 awaits. The Wheel is turning, and the "Unwritten Ending" is yours to author. What marks will you leave on the rules next?
